Thomas Müller joined JLR as Executive Director, Product Engineering in April 2022. He is responsible for the technical development of all new Jaguar and Land Rover models, including hardware and software. His expertise in agile principles, engineering process automation and applying innovative product development methods will bring significant benefits to the efficient delivery of the next generation of modern luxury vehicles.
With more than 20 years’ experience in the automotive industry, Thomas has an extensive background in different roles in research and development, with a focus on chassis, advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving. Prior to JLR, Thomas worked at the Volkswagen Group, where he held a variety of engineering leadership positions at Audi. Most recently, he was Executive Vice President for Research and Development ADAS and Autonomous Driving at Volkswagen Group’s automotive software subsidiary, CARIAD.
Thomas is passionate about cars and has a special interest in using technology and digital capabilities to deliver a great customer experience that makes a real difference. As a leader he prioritises supporting and mentoring a strong and loyal team.
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Thomas graduated from the Technical University Munich (TUM), as a Master in Mechanical Engineering. He gained a second masters in Business Administration, from the Global Executive MBA programme at the IESE Business School in Barcelona. He holds dual German and Brazilian citizenship and is fluent in English,German, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish. Married with two children, Thomas enjoys activities that use technology that help us get closer to nature, such as boating, diving, and skiing.
